I promise this is the last time I mention this (well...maybe), as I know I have been dwelling and mentioning it a lot lately, however I just want to reiterate just how incredibly proud I am of that handsome husband of mine. Watching him study and work with extreme determination and self-discipline (including acing a final exam while holding our new born baby on the day Hunter was born) to achieve his Master's Degree has been amazing. For the last 6 years he has juggled homework, a full-time job (that includes being on-call outside of the 40+ hours he spends in the office), maintaining his portion of the household chores (yes, I covered for some of them....but there are just some things that I can't {ahem...or won't} do), selling and buying houses, making time for his family, and keeping up on his hobbies (which included building a couple of music studios). Even with only 1 class per each of the quarterly semesters, the hours required for his school work were equivalent to a part-time job.
Over the last couple of months as he was finishing up his program, Alex had teetered with the idea of not going to his graduation ceremony, as it was going to be a good distance away (in Philly, PA), and would probably be an extremely boring couple of hours. However, I slammed my foot down on that thought and insisted that he gets the recognition for everything that he sacrificed and worked for in order to complete this program. The funny thing about commencement ceremonies is that more often than not, the graduate has no interest in going....but the truth of the matter is that these ceremonies aren't only to let the light shine on the graduate for a couple of seconds as they cross the stage, but it is equally for the family who witnessed the dedication of the student to be able to stand up, cheer, and express their acknowledgment that they understand just how big of a deal this moment truly is.

| A time when I wish I had a zoom lens...I'm not even sure which one Alex is, but at this point his name was announced and he was walking across the stage...he could be the one all the way to the right. |
 |
| Coincidentally, Hunter actually had developed a new found fascination with dragons over this past week, as he watched some of the How To Train A Dragon short stories, so he was pretty excited to see one there |
 |
| Another one I wish I had a zoom...captured the proud handshake of a dad to his son as he made his way out of the auditorium....if you use a magnifying glass you might be able to see it |

| A better shot of the proud dad with his son |

| Hunter was also very proud, he kept shouting "That's my daddy up there"....long after Alex was even on the stage |

When all was said and done, I think Alex is glad he didn't miss out on the weekend trip. We broke up the driving by staying at GG and Boppa's house on the way there and back, so the 12 hours round trip didn't seem so bad. And just to note, Hunter is pretty much the most amazing two-year old in the world when it comes to road-trip marathons. He didn't complain once for us. And in fact, we were able to have play fun games of "Going on a picnic" and "The alphabet game" (speaking of which, I am going to have to write a letter to President Obama about getting some more billboards up on the highway with words that start with the letter X....they are nearly impossible to find!!). We also enjoyed screaming "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" for the entire duration of driving through tunnels and shouting "Motorcycle" and "Bikes on a car" whenever we saw such. True family bonding time.
Well, I am off to finish proof reading and editing the "Honey-Do List" that I have been working on for the past 6 years so that I can finally send it over to Alex....I am going to make sure that he doesn't get bored with all of the free time that he has now!!
