An Eventful 3-Day Weekend

A fun, busy, and exhausting weekend took place in the lives of the Light Trio these past few days. On Friday morning Bubs and I slept in a little bit and then enjoyed our mom/son bonding time in the morning. Auntie Lenore gave us a deck of 52 Activities To Do With Your Toddler cards and I am determined to do one a week.  Our first one was "Funny Faces" where we sat in front of a mirror and imitated each other's silly face expressions. Unfortunately I didn't think to take a documenting picture of it until after he was sick of playing the game, so I wasn't able to get many fun pictures from it...and actually once I brought the camera out he was more interested in taking pictures then playing our game, so we are left with only the following:

On Friday, Hunter and I spent the afternoon with Uncle Dave. Bubs got some batting practice in with Uncle Dave throwing him some pitches at Grandpas house, and then the 3 of us had a gourmet lunch at Friendly's (each of us capping the meal off with large sundaes). On Friday night we met up with Aunty Allie and Ben (a long time friend of the family) for Hunter's first baseball game at the Pawtucket Red Sox. Bub's was in awe of the real-life players on the field....so much so that he wanted to join them and he kept yelling at them to throw or hit the ball to him.  Unfortunately he never got to go on field to play the game, but at least it was a fun one to watch, and the home team ended up winning!!

On Saturday Hunter attended a birthday party for his friend Grier from school. The Barn Yard Babies came to visit and the kids were able to pet and hold some furry little pals. Hunter's favorite part was cuddling with the goats. He also got to make his own sheep and jump in a toddler-sized bouncy house. He had so much fun that he didn't want to leave when it was all over. My favorite part was when I told him to say happy birthday to Grier and he ended up adding in a hug for her all on his own accord...she accepted the first hug, but then when he went in for additional hugs she ran away from him, and he ran right after her, she ended up escaping into the bouncy house...it was a cute little scene to watch.

Saturday night was spent eating a grilled dinner and cooking up some s'mores at Grandpa and Margaret's house.  It was a great night for a fire and Alex serenaded us with some tunes on the acoustic as he was practicing for my sister's wedding that he has to play for next weekend.  It was quite a relaxing evening.

Today Hunter experienced a couple of firsts.....his first participation in a charitable event as he walked the 5 mile Jimmy Fund Walk route with Grandpa, Aunty Allie, and I....and his very first ride on a bus!!  He did great on the walk. Most of the time he sat contently in his stroller, but he did walk/run a portion of it on his own as well.  But his favorite part of the day was riding the big, yellow school bus, he thought it was the coolest thing ever. Luckily we were one of the first groups on the bus and while waiting for it to fill up before heading back to the start of the route, he had plenty of empty seats to climb over and under and jump on. And of course he sang several renditions of "The Wheels on the Bus" while he was on the bus.

*Note: Its not to late to donate to the Jimmy Fund Cause even though the walk is over.  Our team page can be found here if you are interested Team Cherish Today Donation Page

In other news, one of Hunter's new bath time routines is once he comes out of the tub he wants to be wrapped up like a "little baby" (in his words) and he wants to be carried like a little baby to his daddy, and then he wants his daddy to rock him like a little baby....not sure where he got it from, but Alex and I both find it quite adorable

  1. I have to admit it. I play "little baby" with Hunter sometimes. He is growing up so fast that I miss holding baby Hunter, and he seems to enjoy the cuddle for a few minutes.
