Now What......

Today was one of the most dreaded days of the year....the day when the last piece of evidence that the Christmas season has been upon us is finally taken down.  For some reason it always makes me sad when we take the tree down.  Part of this sadness stems from the realization that the holiday season zipped on by, as it always does, along with my thoughts of not being sure if I slowed down enough to enjoy it to its fullest.  The other part is now that the Christmas tree is down, and the holidays are over, it means it is officially time to embrace the long, cold, dreary winter season.  The term often used for these melancholy feelings is Seasonal Affective Disorder, and this year I am determined not to let it get the best of me.  My plan of attack this year is to get an early start on some Halloween costume making (Hunter had the amazing idea of having us all go as a Pumpkin patch next year....I only have 10 months to learn how to sew!!), tackle the task of taking down the busy, outdated kitchen wallpaper, paint the kitchen and my bedroom, stay on top of my Project Life scrapbook, and, of course, spend as many hours as humanly possible playing with that sweet, little boy of mine.  Now that Hunter has officially convinced us he is a little boy and not our delicate little baby anymore, he has reminded us just how easy it is to turn ordinary days into fun adventures.  This weekend we have had snowball fights, made snow-angels, gone sledding, built a snowman, cozied up for a couple of weekend movie nights (well...the cozy part didn't last long, it was more of we had a movie on in the back ground while playing various games...including hide and seek with Charlie), entertained shoppers while on the mundane weekly grocery trip, etc. etc. etc.  And before we knew it, the first ordinary weekend of 2014 is officially over, depressed-free.......ok Seasonal Affective Disorder, lets see how well you fair against the master workings of Hunter "The Bubs" Light, I have a feeling you will have your work cut out for you this year!!

Bubs is starting the new year with a new do

Hunter's school picture.....not bad considering he got sent home with a 100 degree temp that day
