The Little Bird

Last Saturday morning Alex and Hunter did the grocery shopping.  On their way out of the store, while enjoying a lazy ride in the cart, Hunter looked up and saw that there were birds flying above them.  He kept asking his dad "do you see the birdies?". Alex acknowledged that he did indeed see the flock of gulls flying over their heads and told Bubs he should try to catch one. Hunter reached up really, really high, and wouldn't you know, he was able to catch himself a little bird.  After excitedly showing his dad this little bird and learning how to hold it gently with lose, clasped hands, Alex asked him if he wanted to let the bird go so that it could fly free. Hunter decided this was a good idea, he opened his hands and gave the little bird a push up into the air. The little bird flew off into the sky, only for Bubs to reach really, really high up and catch it again. At that point it was determined that the little bird was meant to be with Bubs, so Alex allowed him to take it home. He spent the whole car ride holding the little bird, being very careful not to squish him. The little bird waited patiently outside of his room while he took a nap that afternoon, and as soon as Bubs woke up he came out of his room and scooped up his new found pet.

Three days latter, that little bird is still hanging around. It likes to fly around the room super fast so that Hunter can chase after it.  It also likes to be passed around to everyone in the room, and occasionally will even hop onto my shoulder.  He is a friendly little bird, but there is no doubt that Hunter is its very best friend.

Isn't the imagination a wonderful thing!!!
