Think Spring

A couple of weeks ago we finally had a sunny Saturday where the temperatures made it into the 40's. With a Spring-Season mindset, I packed up Hunter, his Aunty Allie and my cousin Paul and we ventured off to walk the trails at "World's End". We hiked up to the highest point of the park and even though our teeth were chattering and our red noses were running in the wind chill that made the air feel below 20 degrees, we enjoyed a picnic lunch while pretending we weren't freezing our you-know-whats off. After our chilly meal, we continued our walk which included trudging through some still ice/snow packed trails.

For some reason Hunter decided this was a good location to look for cat-poop....why?...I have no clue, but apparently he ended up finding some (a strange thing to pop into an imagination world if you ask me)

The following weekend Alex, Hunter and I headed down to enjoy a fun-filled Saturday with GG and Boppa. The weather cooperated with us again and we were able to get some games of catch in. The warmish sunshine almost made us forget about the months of hibernation during the bitterness of winter. The next day was the first plan-free afternoon that Alex had since the ending of this past school semester, and since it was a sunny 36 degrees I threw the chain saw in his hands and told him where he could start working (a more empathetic wife would probably have told her husband to enjoy a day off and to relax after weeks of working so hard, but I was having a selfish moment and insisted on his help in the yard). Since there was officially no snow in our yard for the first time since seemingly December, I wanted to make the most out of the sunny day.

Yesterday was the calendar-official first day of spring, and to celebrate Hunter and I both played hooky and stayed home from work/school so that we could enjoy it. We spent the afternoon riding bikes, riding scooters, playing catch, playing basketball, playing golf, doing a bit of yard-clean-up and soaking up every possible ray of sunshine we could.

On my regularly scheduled Friday off, my dad and I took Hunter on his first official train ride as we traveled into the city. Today's adventure was to explore the newly renovated aquarium. We got to pet sting rays (something I will always be a little squeamish of since the Steve Irwin incident) and star-fish. We saw penguins, turtles, sharks, eels, millions of kinds of fish, seals, sea lions, crabs, lobsters, etc, etc, etc. There were a lot of "WHOA"s and "DID YOU SEE THAT"s coming from Hunter as he wandered through the exhibits.

Hope you all are enjoying the sunshine!!!

PS - will be doing more yard-work this Sunday for anyone that wants to join us.....
