A Tribute to the Maxx

It is with a heavy heart that I must give the news that our beloved bearded dragon Maxximus passed away last night. He had been sick for a while and we are comforted to know that he is no longer in pain. Many people who have not had the experience of having a reptile as a member of their family are often perplexed as to why these animals are even desirable as pets. From an outsider's perspective reptiles give the appearance of just a lump on a log, something that just exists in the corner of a room somewhere. But anyone who has allowed these beings into their lives know that reptiles have their own personalities and can offer just as much companionship as any other "normal" household pets.

Maxx, aka The Moose, was a cuddler as a baby beardy. He would often curl up into the nook of an arm and nuzzle in to take a nap. He loved to explore outside of his aquarium and he enjoyed a good game of hide and seek every once in a while. He was a good older brother to Charlie and taught his often immature feline brother how to respect others, and as long as Charlie was on good behavior, Maxx would allow Charlie to hang out with him in his bedroom (which Charlie thought was the coolest thing). When our office was in the same room as Maxx's aquarium, he would always lend me an ear to vent about the mundane accounting concepts while I was working from home.  He also kept Alex company during his late night Warcraft raids, and spent many a night snoozing on Alex's lap as he researched the latest drum and guitar gear online. Maxx has also been on road trips with us for long holiday weekends. In the Light House, Maxximus wasn't just a scaly creature that sat dormant in his tank, he was an official member of our family, and we will never forget all the good memories that he gave to us.

Rest in peace our dear, sweet, Maxximus, you will not be forgotten. Have fun chasing all of those crickets and worms and enjoy soaking up those rays in that heavenly sky now that your wary soul is free of all the pain and burden of this life. We miss you and we love you.
