Now that Bubs is able to understand, learn, and interact, we are having fun creating some new Christmas traditions. A Light Trio favorite is the 25 Books of Christmas. We wrapped up 25 Christmas books, numbered them, and put them under a mini-tree. Every night we help Hunter find the book of the day for him to unwrap and read that night. So far he has been playing by the rules and hasn't tried unwrapping more than the book of the day (I had thought once he started unwrapping he would want to keep going...but he has thus far been able to restrain from any temptation to do so).
Last week we went to the local farm stand to pick out the 2013 Christmas Tree. Bubs wasn't as excited about the trees themselves as he was about the maze they created around the lot. He had fun running down the aisles and around the corners of Douglas Firs, and was disappointed when we told him it was time to go home.
However, once we got home he was anxious to help his dad get the tree settled in to its temporary home. He is the best little helper.
This past weekend Hunter's GG and Papi Light made the trip up to help us out with the tree trimming. Unfortunately, Bubs was a little under the weather over the weekend, so he wasn't as energetic as he usually his, but he was a trooper and participated in the weekend's events to the best of his ability.

| He helped his Papi determine ornament placement |
 |
| He read books to his GG (ok, it was the other way around..she read them to him, but he was an active listener the whole time) |
 |
| He showed his dad the correct way to make sure the ornaments were fastened securely to the branches |
 |
| He chuckled at the annual viewing of Christmas Vacation |
 |
| He helped glitter some snowflakes |
 |
| He helped fill and hand-stamp some ornaments |
Of course the weekend's festivities did eventually catch up to him and we had a rough Saturday/Sunday night (a sick Bubs = a tired Mama), but luckily he started to come out of it this morning and is almost completely back to his old self. He spent the day laughing and playing with his Grandpa Bill, then after I signed off from work he and I finished decorating the house for Christmas (while intermittently taking breaks to play cars or catch or dance or read or race). The thing that I miss most when Bubski is sick is his contagious laugh...I am so glad I got to hear it again today!!!
Inevitably I am now feeling a sore-ish, itchy throat...Hunter always has been good at sharing!!! (either that, or the sore throat stems from spending the afternoon belting out the tunes of the 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserable that I had up on youtube while I was working from home...{boss-lady, if you are reading this, yes I did manage to get all my work done with this on in the back ground....believe or not, singing helps to increase work productivity and efficiency}).
