'Twas The Night Before Christmas....(2012 edition)

'Twas the night before Christmas and in the Light house
Bubs and I passed time while waiting for my spouse;
Hunter had told me that he wanted to bake,
and I gave him the flour without asking what he would make

He forgot to mention that he had planned out a scheme
to decorate the kitchen with a snow angel theme;
I confess that his art made a beautiful sight,
but with company due we had to clean it that night

Bubbers asked if he could help me fill the manger with hay,
so Baby Jesus would have a warm, cozy place to stay;
then he went outside to feed the squirrels dinner,
if not for his devotion to this chore, our squirrels would be a lot thinner

When Alex got home we had to make out a menu,
to shop for Christmas dinner, where our home would be the venue;
luckily Bubs wasn't yet sick of helping us shop,
this time of year it seems we go to stores nonstop

This year we decided to try 10 pm Mass,
during which both Bubs and his dad took some naps;
then Hunter went to bed as soon as we got home,
which gave Santa the whole first floor the roam

Again, Santa spoiled us with lots of good gifts,
it always amazes me how much stuff that old man can still lift;
Thanks also for the presents from our family and friends,
you are all on my list of blessings that seems never to end.

Overall I would say the day was a success,
thanks to the company of all our family guests;
Allie, David, Kati, Logan, Madison, and Dad,
only adding Sondra's and Brandy's clans would have made us more glad

We all filled our bellies with a mighty good feast,
Alex even ended up with a stomach ache because he kept eating after he should have ceased.

We were bummed when all of our guests to leave,
but we busied ourselves with the gifts we had received;
Bubski tried figuring out his remote control car,
he asked his dad for some help when he couldn't get far

Hunter tried getting Charlie to play with a new toy,
but Charlie refused to cave in to the adamant little boy;
Bubs didn't conform to the cat's grinchy 'tude,
he started karaoke to stay in a Christmasy mood

Eventually it was time for Hunter to go to bed,
so we unwrapped the last Christmas book to be read

Bubs asked if he could chime in to this poem,
with some words that he wanted to say on his own;
so I will stop here by wishing you all a Merry Christmas Night,
we hope you had the best one ever! Love, all of the Lights
