Play Date

We were finally able to get the first play date together with the Trossellos today. Annette T. was my prego buddy, as she was due with her first son a month before I was due with Hunter. With us both being first time moms, and our babies being so close in age, we have had a lot in common over the past year. It is great having someone to relate to during all of these life changing occurrences.  I am so glad we were finally able to get the families together for our first play date.

It was a fun afternoon, even though we couldn't quite get Gabe and Hunter on the same schedule...when one was eating, the other was sleeping....when the sleeping baby woke up, the other one went down. But the few chances that we did get the boys to interact were priceless.  Gabe is such a sweet, friendly, bundle of cuteness. As soon as he was next to Hunter he reached out to "pet" him as his offering of friendship. However, Hunter had just woken up from a nap and was in a little bit of a daze in the new environment of the Trossello's house to really react to Gabe:

Hunts: "Where am I"  ..... Gabe: "Hey, someone new to be friends with"

Hunts: "Where am I"....Gabe: "Hi Buddy, what's your name"

Hunts: "Where am I"...Gabe: "Don't worry, you're at my house, its cool"

Hunts: "Where am I"....Gabe: "Dad, why can't he hear me?"

Hunts: "Where am I"....Gabe: "Dude,  I promise you will like it here once you give it a chance"

At the end of the afternoon we tried getting the boys to interact again. Gabe kept trying be friends, but Hunts was being a little on the shy side, which is strange because he usually loves meeting new people. He was just having a little bit of an off-day, which happens to us all sometimes.  I'm sure the next time they meet they will be the best of friends. At least Gabe didn't take it personally as he kept on trying to get Hunter to be his friend...

Gabe: "Thanks so much for coming, it was great meeting you"....Hunts: "Ya man, it was cool"

Gabe: "High Five for the road?"....Hunts: "Um, I'm just not sure about that right now"

Gabe: "That's ok bro, keep it real anyway"....Hunts:"Mom, why are you just standing there with that camera while this little person is touching my face"

Gabe: "Hey man, just trying to be friends"....Hunts: "I know you mean well, I'm just weird today. Please don't take offense"

All in all it was a fun afternoon. We traded new parent woes and advice, we ate delicious food (thanks again Andy for the yummy turkey chilli), and we smiled and oogled at the two little munchkins. We are already looking forward to the next one!!
